I am so sorry to read your words today because they resonate in my heart and mind. Education is never a one-size fits all package but sadly well-meaning educators and the pressure of public and private expectations have turned what is meant to be a calling (that of being a teacher) into a bottomline-focused business.
My father was a teacher and my sister is a teacher too. And news of kids at risk (in life, education, careers and hope) comes up every day, even in the most developed countries. Teachers have a noble calling and many excel at their jobs through their dedication and passion for the students under their charge.
I commend the teacher for his or her honesty and I hope that he or she will never give up on the students he or she takes care of. Teachers may only have one or two hours per day, or about 10 hours a week, with theit students, but we can encourage them so that they make those hours count!
